VSORA Appoints Dr. Albert Camilleri to the Newly Created Position of Vice President of Business Development for North America

Responsibilities Include Identifying North American Strategic Business Opportunities and Growing VSORA’s IP Licensing Business

PARIS, Oct. 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VSORA, an entrepreneurial startup delivering multicore digital signal processing (DSP) intellectual property (IP) for 5G wireless networks, today appointed Dr. Albert Camilleri as vice president of business development for North America.

Dr. Camilleri, who most recently served as director of engineering at Qualcomm, joins VSORA with more than 25 years of engineering leadership in wireless telecommunications and computer design, reports to Khaled Maalej, its chief executive officer. He will be responsible for identifying North American strategic business opportunities and growing VSORA’s IP licensing business.

“We are delighted Dr. Albert Camilleri agreed to join VSORA,” remarks Maalej. “He brings a solid technical background to his business development role, having worked in a number of disciplines in computer architecture, design and verification. We will look to his expertise and uncommon experience to help us move into the next phase of our business.”

Prior to Qualcomm, Dr. Camilleri led business ventures and customer partnerships for Silicon Valley startups and Fortune 500 companies in the United States and Europe, including Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge in the U.K. and Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from the University of Kent in Canterbury, also in the U.K.

VSORA (Vectorized SOftware RAdio) designs and markets a new DSP development flow for digital communications systems to allow signal processing engineers and software engineers to share the same environment and source code. The development flow reduces the silicon footprint by boosting DSP compute power while optimizing power consumption and system performance.

“VSORA has an exceptionally bright future,” says Dr. Camilleri. “The 5G wave is coming and VSORA has all the right elements to ride it. It’s an exciting time to be part of what is destined to be an influential startup.”
