South Plains Implement Stays Ahead of the Curve with Dealer Spike

The goal of innovation is a focus for Marketing Manager Meagan Robertson, who oversees all marketing efforts for South Plains Implement. She acknowledges that her dealership is ahead of the curve when it comes to technology and particularly digital marketing strategy. “It works out for those of us in the industry that are ahead, because we’re taking advantage of what’s going to help our business and get customers in the door,” Robertson says.

Robertson calls digital marketing “incredibly important” to her business. “It’s where the world of advertising is going,” she says. In her opinion, mobile phones are beginning to replace desktop computers. “People are always out and about on their phones, especially farmers out in the field running equipment,” she explains. “Many industry professionals are still holding on to print media, newspapers, and magazines - and I think there’s a time and place for those, but they are not something to spend all of your advertising dollars on.”  

It was the responsive website platform Dealer Spike offered that prompted the dealership’s change to the web provider in the first place. “Our previous provider did not have the ability to create that for us,” Robertson says. One of the biggest benefits she mentions is the ability of her sales team to pull up the dealership website on a mobile device when out in the field with a customer and show them different pieces of equipment. And beyond that, with so many people accessing websites via mobile, a non-responsive site that doesn’t function correctly or at all on a mobile device could lose business for the dealership. “If people can’t find equipment quickly, they’re not going to stay on your site,” Robertson says.

While BE Implement has worked with Dealer Spike for website solutions since March 2015, Robertson spearheaded the effort to keep the merged dealership, now together known as South Plains Implement, on the Dealer Spike platform when the two companies combined. Robertson says that some of the main reasons for her insistence to keep BE Implement’s web provider included Dealer Spike’s abilities to create custom pages and to provide a custom design for her website, along with the fact that she can easily get ahold of the support team.  

When asked how important the dealership website is to day-to-day business, Robertson says that the daily update of inventory is a major benefit. While lead tracking was not in place on the dealership’s former website, the dealership’s leads have climbed throughout the three years with Dealer Spike. Robertson mentions the “Customize Your Compact” package form, a custom tool built by the Dealer Spike team, as a major avenue for bringing in high-converting leads.
