SpaceFoam™ Supports Expansion of the National Math and Science Initiative’s “Laying the Foundation” Program

SpaceFoam™ is proud to be partnering with NMSI in Greater Los Angeles, providing vital funding for STEM teacher training

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, SpaceFoamTM announces the launch of an ongoing Gift to the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) to help expand its “Laying the Foundation” program in Greater Los Angeles in 2019 and beyond. SpaceFoamTM and NMSI believe STEM education is critical to fostering innovation and driving economic prosperity for America’s youth, and both organizations are proud to be closely partnering together to support STEM education and teacher training.

Quality STEM education starts with well-trained and well-supported teachers. Delivered by best-in-class expert educators, “Laying the Foundation” builds on research-based strategies to help teachers raise the bar for student attainment and facilitate more sophisticated thinking and learning. This program allows teachers of grades 3-12 to build subject matter expertise, enhance their ability to lead diverse classrooms, master new technologies, and prepare students to be confident and highly creative problem solvers.

“We’re working to ensure that every student has the knowledge and skills to thrive in today’s increasingly technology-driven society, and we’re excited to be partnering with SpaceFoam, who clearly understands our mission,” says Bernard Harris, CEO of NMSI. To date, nearly 50,000 teachers nationwide have participated in “Laying the Foundation” and students taught by participating teachers scored significantly better on ACT AspireTM math and reading assessments.

“SpaceFoam could not have been created without the type of education that NMSI is continually developing and enhancing for America’s future innovation leaders,” says Sam Broder-Fingert, President of SpaceFoamTM. “We’re proud to be investing in this next generation of innovators.” The company collaborated with top sleep scientists, engineers, and product designers to launch the SpaceFoamTM pillow in November 2018.

In addition to this Gift from SpaceFoamTM, NMSI and SpaceFoamTM are collaborating to promote awareness of STEM education training and the application of STEM principles in product development and other fields.
