Qustodio Invites Startups Threatened by Kajeet Inc. to Join in Defensive Action

Qustodio Takes Fight Against Predatory Patent Infringement Lawsuit Filed by Kajeet Inc. Public

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Qustodio LLC, one of the world's leaders in online safety and digital well-being for families, today announced it is taking its fight public against the predatory patent infringement lawsuits filed by Kajeet Inc. via Friedman Suder & Cooke, by inviting other startups being threatened by Kajeet to join it in defensive action.

"Our product helps families stand up to bullies, and today, we're helping small businesses do the same by taking a firm stand against these baseless infringement allegations directed at players in our industry," said Eduardo Cruz, co-founder and CEO of Qustodio. "By making our case public and joining forces with other players in our market, we can help make it economically viable for smaller startups to obtain protection against Kajeet Inc. and its unfounded claims."

Qustodio is inviting startups to join them in defensive action against Kajeet, by challenging the validity of its patents, which point to abstract ideas not protected under U.S. patent laws.

"We believe it is important to take a firm stand against patent trolls. As members of the Open Invention Network (OIN), we believe in the power of patent pools and patent non-aggression to promote collaboration and innovation. That’s why we feel it is our obligation to warn startups about Kajeet Inc. and invite everyone to join us in our fight against them,” states Cruz.

This is not the first time small innovative start-ups have been targeted. Life360, the world’s largest communication tool for families, won its battle against another patent troll, Advanced Ground Information Systems (AGIS), on the same grounds in 2015. Life360 refused to pay off AGIS, made its battle public, and went on to receive a verdict of non-infringement on all grounds. We expect to repeat this success, and collectively eliminate this threat to our industry and innovation efforts.
