Joseph J. Fusco Elected Chair of Villa Colombo’s Board of Governors


TORONTO, Jan. 15, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Toronto business owner Joseph J. Fusco has been elected Chair of the Board of Governors of Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc. at its 2018 Annual General meeting. Opened in 1976, Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc. (Villa Colombo Toronto), part of the Villa Charities Inc. group of organizations, prides itself on providing quality long-term residential care and community services to seniors in a culturally sensitive environment that honours the Italian heritage. Villa Colombo cares for 391 residents living in their Long-Term Care (LTC) home in addition to providing community services to over 700 clients living in the community such as Meals on Wheels, adult day programs and supportive housing.

Joseph J. Fusco began his professional ventures in the trucking business, then moving to the food industry. He went on to officially join the family business, Commercial Bakeries Corp., over 25 years ago. With his father and two younger brothers, he is co-owner of the private label bakery specializing in mass cookie production for clients across North America and in international markets.

Passionate about the future of culturally sensitive, high-quality long-term care and assisted living for our seniors, Mr. Fusco joined the Board of Governors of Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc. in 2007. From 2008 to 2013, he chaired the annual Villa Charities Golf Tournament, successfully raising substantial funds for Villa Charities Foundation. In 2013, he joined the Villa Colombo Finance Committee, responsible for the planning for the financial future of Villa Colombo Toronto. He has also been a member of the Villa Charities Board of Governors since 2016.

Mr. Fusco succeeds Santo Veltri, who served as Board Chair since 2016. Mr. Veltri, who was appointed Chair of the Villa Charities Board of Governors in June 2018, has been a volunteer at the organization for over 16 years, serving as a member of the Board of Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc. since 2002.
