Impact Investment Firm, Vanderbilt Financial Group Boasts Record Year of Growth for 2018

WOODBURY, N.Y., Feb. 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vanderbilt Financial Group (“Vanderbilt”), the Sustainable Broker Dealer and RIA firm, proudly continues its focus on impact investing and boasts a second consecutive record year of growth for 2018.

Redefining their internal perimeters of success, Vanderbilt’s commitment to impactfulness inspired measuring growth beyond traditional economic values to include the impact they have socially and environmentally on a local, national and global scale.

“My mission is to inspire, celebrate, and bring capital to entrepreneurs who are solving the world’s greatest challenges with their businesses, while at the same time aligning our client’s values and passions with the investments we offer,” stated Vanderbilt Financial Group Chief Entrepreneurial Officer, Stephen Distante.

2018 Vanderbilt Highlights Include:

  • Doing Good Breeds Doing Well: 2018 was another banner year of growth for Vanderbilt with an increase in firm gross revenue of 25% over 2017, and a 20% growth in new registered advisors. The influx in recruitment from both large independent firms and large wire houses came from advisors looking for a higher level of customer service and a smaller, family style firm. Vanderbilt leads with values that continue to shine through increased growth.

  • 2018 Best Places to Work in Long Island: Vanderbilt was voted as one of the “Best Places to Work in Long Island” for 2018 by Long Island Business News. Established over ten years ago by Long Island Business News, this distinctive program extensively researches, evaluates, and ranks the best places of employment based on an employee satisfaction and engagement survey along with a comprehensive review of workplace policies and procedures. Gratitude, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork and Trust are the core values at the foundation of Vanderbilt Financial Group.  By weaving these ideals into the fabric of their culture, Vanderbilt differentiates themselves from other broker dealers in the financial services sector. “The most important aspect of building a great company culture is to have a vision that is bigger than ourselves, a reason to be in business to benefit others,” said Stephen Distante, CEO of Vanderbilt.

  • Documentary film to Raise Awareness and Action of Impact Investing: CEO/Executive Producer Stephen Distante premiered the documentary film “Impact”, produced in partnership with Investment News and Vanderbilt education program Impact U, at the United Nations on September 11, 2018. “Impact” showcases the power of entrepreneurs who have infused purpose into their businesses by aligning with one or more of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The film profiles entrepreneurs as artists who use their businesses as their canvas; painting their passions, purpose and drive into a profitable venture that has the possibility of improving the world’s challenges. The film weaves together the personal stories of entrepreneurs with the history of impact investing, leaving the audience empowered to take action regardless of whether they start their own business or invest in those changing the world. To date, “Impact” has been uniquely seen over 5,000 times through online distribution at impactu.film, in private screenings, and at the Cucalorus Film Festival in Wilmington, NC.

  • Vanderbilt Grows its Impact! In 2018, Vanderbilt Financial Group acquired a 50% stake of a family-run broker dealer on Long Island, a $300 million-dollar firm who devoted their practice entirely to investing with purpose. The addition of this second broker dealer focuses solely on bringing capital to impact-oriented companies to help them scale and grow. This acquisition is a continuation of Vanderbilt’s growth as “The Sustainable Broker Dealer and RIA” and includes activities aimed at educating and engaging investors, entrepreneurs and students alike on impact and socially responsible investing.

  • Vanderbilt joined the United Nations’ Global Compact initiative: Vanderbilt continues a close partnership with the United Nations through signing the Global Compact initiative, a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 9,500 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and more than 70 Local Networks.

  • Bringing Together Divergent Voices in the Impact Space: In October, Vanderbilt held the first of a bi-annual TED-esque style conference, Impact X, which brought together financial advisors from across the country with three thought-leaders working in the impact field using storytelling as a medium for knowledge and information sharing: Majora Carter, Tom Benson of Wildplay, and Daniel Rosen of TerraCycle. Through events and initiatives such as Impact X, Vanderbilt hopes increasing the reach and positive impact of the financial services industry through highlighting the power of impact investing and the use of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as a starting point.

  • Embracing Technology to Reduce Environmental Impact: In addition to our energy efficient and state-of-the-art LEED Certified Platinum Headquarters, embracing technology has allowed Vanderbilt to go paperless for client accounts firm-wide, resulting in saving 26,558 lbs of wood, 71,122 gallons of water, 3,922 lbs of paper waste, and further reducing our carbon footprint by 59,822 lbs of CO2 via technology platform Docusign.

  • Service to Our Local Community: Leadership and staff came together to raise funds, resources, and supplies for four local Long Island charities: John Brower Jr. Foundation, The Book Fairies, The INN, and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Local impact is and will always remain integral to Vanderbilt’s mission.
