Putting finance in the spotlight
This year’s competition is presided over by Claude Séguin, Chair of the Board of Directors, Fonds de solidarité FTQ. The competition was open to all chief financial officers, vice presidents of finance and senior financial executives across Quebec.

The aim of the Aces of Finance competition is to discover and recognize the professional achievements and community involvement of outstanding financial executives, underline their crucial role and highlight their strategic contribution to their organization’s performance.

“Over the years, the announcement of the financial executive finalists has become a unique moment for our association. It is a reflection of the profession and serves as a reminder that the success of our businesses is dependent on women and men who are fully committed to making their organization an economic leader,” said Catherine Allard, President of the Quebec Chapter of FEI Canada. “It is also an opportunity to fully measure the positive impact our competition has on the industry. In addition to promoting and raising the profile of the financial profession, the competition brings together on the same stage some senior executives who have accumulated years of achievements along with a new generation of financial executives who have a solid understanding of today’s issues, thus demonstrating the profession’s vitality and dynamism,” said Ms. Allard.

2019 Homage Award
At the gala on May 8, the Aces of Finance Homage Award will also be presented to a financial executive who has demonstrated longstanding career achievement. The recipient of this year’s prestigious award is Michael Hanley, a financial executive who has personified excellence throughout his career. His list of accomplishments includes strategic financial executive positions at such reputable organizations as National Bank of Canada, Alcan, Bauxite and Alumina, Gaz Métro and St. Laurent Paperboard. Today, Mr. Hanley is a corporate director, sitting on the boards of BRP, Industrial Alliance Insurance & Financial Services and Shawcor, as well as chairing their audit committees.
