Philips showcases integrated portfolio for efficient and effective cardiac care at ACC.19

March 15, 2019

Amsterdam, the Netherlands and New Orleans, U.S. – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, is highlighting its latest innovations in cardiac care at the ACC.19 68th Annual Scientific Session and Expo in New Orleans, U.S. from March 16-18. With its integrated portfolio for efficient and effective cardiac care, Philips is supporting clinicians and healthcare administrators to improve outcomes, enhance the patient experience, increase staff satisfaction and lower cost of care delivery.

“At Philips we provide intelligent solutions that help clinicians to be more efficient and effective, enabling them to deliver a consistent standard of care, optimize care pathways, simplify workflows and drive better treatment outcomes,” said Bert van Meurs, Chief Business Leader Image Guided Therapy, Philips. “We continue to accelerate our pace of innovation. We recently introduced Azurion with FlexArm, the latest development on our leading platform for interventional procedures, as well as the new generation of IntelliSpace Cardiovascular, our multi-modality cardiovascular image and information management solution.”

Setting a new standard for patient imaging and positioning flexibility for image-guided procedures
At the congress Philips is showcasing its recently-introduced Azurion with FlexArm system, setting a new standard for patient imaging and positioning flexibility for image-guided procedures. During increasingly complex interventions, clinicians need to quickly and easily visualize critical anatomy and identify changes to the patient during the procedure. Azurion with FlexArm includes a set of innovations that makes it easier for the clinician to perform imaging across the whole patient in both 2D and 3D. As the clinician moves the system, the image beam automatically maintains alignment with the patient, allowing more consistent visualization and enabling them to keep their focus on the treatment.

Integrating physiologic information with the angiogram
Philips SyncVision iFR Co-registration further advances physiology by mapping the pressure profile of the whole vessel onto the angiogram, providing physiologic guidance for where to treat within the vessel. With iFR Co-registration, clinicians can identify the precise locations causing ischemia, plan stent length and placement with a virtual stent, and predict physiologic improvement. Philips SyncVision with iFR Co-registration provides physicians with a full physiologic image allowing them to see clearly and treat optimally.

At ACC.19 Philips will announce the presentation of data from the DEFINE-PCI study, which has assessed the level of residual ischemia found in patients after percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI).

Streamlining workflow and improving operational performance
Philips recently announced IntelliSpace Cardiovascular 4.1, its next-generation cardiovascular image and information management system. Designed to help streamline workflow and improve operational performance, IntelliSpace Cardiovascular 4.1 aggregates patient information into one solution to provide a holistic view to facilitate better informed decision-making. The latest version builds on the existing pediatric reporting capabilities, recognizing the important and unique nature of the pediatric environment. Clinicians can now complete their workflows more efficiently in a web browser, while integration with Philips Forcare enables the sharing of patient data between health systems and hospitals.

Ultrasound innovations in visualization and quantification for cardiac care
Built on the powerful EPIQ ultrasound platform, EPIQ CVx is specifically designed to increase diagnostic confidence and simplify workflow for clinicians in cardiac care, giving them more time to interact with their patients and reducing the need for repeat scans. It includes higher processing power, exceptional image clarity and sharpness, improved exam efficiencies and more robust and reproducible quantification, enabled by anatomical intelligence. Philips also offers the EPIQ CVxi, specifically tailored for use in the interventional lab. It includes EchoNavigator, which helps interventional cardiologists more clearly oversee procedures along with the location of key anatomical structures by combining live ultrasound and X-ray information in one intuitive view.
