Weed Me offers over 100 genetic strains of cannabis

Through its extensive genetic bank, this leading cannabis producer develops unique strains to suit a wide range of medicinal and recreational needs

Toronto, ON, April 30, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Launched with a mission to effectively serve patients according to their individual purposes and needs, in just one year Weed Me has grown its genetic bank to a total of 110 cannabis strains and counting. In its current 20,000-square foot facility in Pickering – soon to total over 200,000 square feet of growing, processing, storing and research space – Weed Me cultivates cannabis without the use of soil, chemicals or pesticides in clean rooms. The company’s state-of-the-art facility gives it the ability to produce clones, seedlings and auto-flowering seeds so buyers can easily grow their own high-quality cannabis.

CMO of Weed Me, Maor Shayit, says, “Auto flowering seeds allow people to grow plants successfully and take advantage of Canada’s law to grow up to four plants in any home in most provinces. The truth is, growing cannabis is a craft and with regular seeds, most Canadians simply don’t have the attention and knowledge to grow them properly. Auto flowering seeds change all of that.”

In both the medicinal and recreational markets, the needs and fundamental purposes for buying and using cannabis vary widely. From illness, to relaxation, to different forms of pain in the body, people have a countless number of reasons to buy and use cannabis. By having an extensive genetic bank, including exclusive rights in Canada to grow and sell all of the infamous Dutch Passions strains, Weed Me conducts in-depth research and development, and cross breeds genetics in order to produce new strains that cater to buyers’ specific needs and desires.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer patients and licensed producers with the high quality and reliable starting materials they need to grow their own plants,” states Benny Presman, Weed Me’s Founder and Chief Commercial Officer. “Over the course of the next four months or so, we plan to embark on a new innovative project to create tissue culture. This is when you clean the genome of a plant in order to make it a pure strain, which can then be used in conjunction with numerous technologies, including CRISPR-Cas9, to develop one-of-a-kind genetics at a level of quality unheard of by today’s standards.”

With over 100 genetics currently, a massive phase-two expansion project up ahead and extensive R&D on the backend, Weed Me is a cannabis producer proving the sky is the limit in this up-and-coming industry.
