TrueCoach Showing Big Gains: B2B Fitness Software Company Doubles in Size, Raises $2M

Fitness entrepreneur and former Oracle executive Eric Roza leads funding round, joins as board chair

BOULDER, Colo., July 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TrueCoach, a Boulder-based software-as-a-service platform for the fitness industry, today announced a $2 million funding round. Veteran fitness and technology entrepreneur Eric Roza led the round and has joined the company as chairman of the board.

“TrueCoach is on a mission to help health and fitness professionals increase their client impact and improve their career satisfaction,” said Casey Jenks, CEO of TrueCoach. “In just over three years, we’ve built a growing community of more than 10,000 of the world’s top coaches and hundreds of thousands of their clients in more than 80 countries.”

TrueCoach is built with personal trainers, gym owners and their clients in mind. Features include workout planning, tracking and delivery, communication, a video exercise library, fitness assessments, nutrition programs and payment processing. A 2016 graduate of the Techstars Chicago program, the company is growing more than 100% year-over-year and is well into a seven-figure revenue run rate. Headcount has doubled since January and is expected to double again in the next 12 months.

“It is remarkable what TrueCoach has accomplished in such a short time with a small team and limited capital,” said Eric Roza, TrueCoach’s incoming chairman. “With over 25 million individual workouts delivered, TrueCoach has already established itself as a leader in driving the global growth of personalized fitness. I could not be more excited about our opportunity to further transform fitness in the years ahead.”

Roza, who had one of the largest software exits in Colorado history as CEO of Datalogix in 2015, served as lead investor for the funding round. Other investors include the founding CEOs of Alta Colleges (Kirk Riedinger and Jamie Turner), EverCommerce (Eric Remer), Moat (Jonah Goodhart) and ZenPlanner (Jeff Gardner) as well as current and former senior executives from Adobe (Taylor Barada), Amazon (Tim Craycroft), Asurion (Gerald Risk), HomeAdvisor (Adam Burrows) and CodeSchool (Gregg Pollack). Notable previous investors include OPEX Fitness founder James FitzGerald, Techstars and Brad Greenwald.
