Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) Welcomes New RAPS Colorado Chapter

Rockville, MD, USA, Oct. 17, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) announced the official launch of the RAPS Colorado Chapter. The group first began as a RAPS-affiliated local networking group before becoming a full chapter. Chapter leaders and other representatives attended RAPS’ recent Regulatory Convergence in Philadelphia, where they were welcomed and acknowledged by RAPS Executive Director Paul Brooks.

“We are so pleased to officially welcome the RAPS Colorado Chapter,” said Brooks. “RAPS chapters are a vital part of our growing global network, and they are so important not only to the regulatory professional community, but also to local life sciences businesses. Regulatory expertise is vital to help support growing companies in highly regulated industries like medtech, biotech and pharma. Having a strong local chapter will be a great asset to Colorado’s thriving start-up scene.”

“Building and maintaining a vibrant regulatory community within Colorado provides a forum for local input on broader trends and issues facing not only the regulatory community, but that will drive future impact to patients,” said the chapter chair, Bryan Ford, RAC, manager, regulatory affairs, Clovis Oncology. “A local chapter is important to develop model regulatory practices and ensure policy is represented locally, as well as provide influence beyond the state level. Having a regional chapter in our community means opportunity for face-to-face events supporting career development for regulatory professionals.”

Colorado’s life sciences sector includes more than 720 companies in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics and digital health as well as related service providers supporting human and animal health.

The Colorado chapter already has several upcoming events planned. Friday, 18 October will be its first official chapter event and formal kick-off celebration. The chapter will host representatives from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday, 7 November as they discuss the new Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment (ASCA) draft guidance and solicit comments from Colorado regulatory professionals.
