Matt Parish Launches Ultra-Luxury Napa AVA Series with Naked Wines

Matt Parish’s New Series of Reserve Napa Cabernet, “Matt Parish The AVA Series,” Offers Cult-Famous Wines From American Viticultural Areas in Napa at More Accessible Prices

NAPA, Calif., Oct. 24, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Matt Parish, highly regarded Napa winemaker today announced a collaboration with Naked Wines, the largest 100% direct-to-consumer winery in America, to release his new collection of Reserve Napa Cabernet: Matt Parish The AVA Series.

Through his partnership with Naked Wines, Matt Parish is making and bottling an ultra-luxury collection from Napa’s distinctive, world-famous American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) at a more accessible price point. The aim of this project is to distill the essence of Napa's sub-appellations, beginning with Oakville and Coombsville, each of which carry a distinct flavor profile, into a world-class bottle of wine. Releasing AVA Reserve Cabernets allows wine enthusiasts to discover and experience Napa's unique vineyards, mile by mile

"As I celebrate my 33rd harvest and 20th vintage in Napa, I’m delighted to announce the launch of my new sub-AVA collection with two very special bottlings from Oakville and Coombsville,” said winemaker Matt Parish. “These have been 5 years in the making as a collaboration with Naked Wines to bring ultra-luxury wines to wine drinkers. My desire was to create a collection of truly world-class wines to discover, collect, and enjoy on special occasions.”

The first release focuses on the fascinating contrast of Oakville and Coombsville sub-AVAs. These two wines will highlight each area’s unique taste profiles and will take Naked Wines members (known as Angels) on a journey of learning and discovery. Oakville, a long-established benchmark region in central Napa, and Coombsville, a lesser known, newer region in the Southeast corner of Napa, were critical starting points for Matt with their lineage of top-quality vintages and distinct growing conditions.

Available exclusively through Naked Wines at $69, the first two wines in Matt Parish The AVA Series highlight esteemed cult Cabernet vineyards in Oakville and Coombsville, both typically under elite lock and key. Matt gained access through his unmatched relationships in the wine industry as a result of decades of winemaking at the highest level, including numerous vintages as Chief Winemaker of many of Napa’s iconic wine brands. His new luxury series offers the quality and taste expected from Napa’s high-end wines, at a much more attractive price point. Both wines have a limited production with roughly 3,000 bottles each.

  • The first wine in the series, Matt Parish The AVA Collection Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, is from one of Napa Valley’s most revered vineyards located on the western side of Oakville. While wines from this vineyard typically sell for over $200, Matt’s AVA Collection Oakville Cabernet will be available to Angels on the Naked Wines website for $69. The wine is dark crimson in color, with perfumed, dark fruit and toasty oak on the nose, and a palate that typifies luxury - structured, complex, and seamless. GPS coordinates on the label indicate the AVA region where his wine was sourced.
  • The second wine in the series, Matt Parish The AVA Collection Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, is from a Coombsville estate blending 3 distinct clones of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Estate wines from this vineyard sell for over $150 a bottle, but Matt’s AVA Collection Coombsville Cabernet will be available to Angels on the Naked Wines website for $69 as well. Inky in color, the wine exhibits aromas and flavors of lush, dark, ripe berry fruit, earth and oak spice, and a palate that is focused with layers of minerality and fine saturated tannins.

Bottling world-class wines from the Oakville and Coombsville AVAs in Napa and being able to provide the wines to more wine enthusiasts at a lower price point proves the Naked Wines model. By taking away the traditional three-tier middlemen, Naked Wines can remove expensive sales markups, brokerage costs, and any other “in-betweens” to give winemakers like Matt Parish a platform to craft, share, and distribute their wines directly with wine drinkers.

“Naked Wines is very proud to support Matt Parish and his journey to create his AVA Series,” said Nick Devlin, CEO of Naked Wines. “Naked Wines was founded by the belief that great wine should be accessible to everyone, from first-time wine drinkers to educated experts and Matt’s series is an excellent proof point that this works.”
