MXIC Purchases Additional CFM Wet Processing Equipment

EXTON, Penn., Feb. 15, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- CFM Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:CFMT) announced a multi-million dollar follow-on order for multiple OMNI(tm) semiconductor wafer processing tools from MXIC, a major Taiwanese chip producer. These tools are being purchased to meet increased capacity needs, and will be installed in MXIC's 200mm facility located in Hsinchu, Taiwan, to supplement existing CFM systems already in production there.

"CFM systems have contributed in many ways to our success here at MXIC," said a senior MXIC manager, "The system's flexibility and process performance mesh well with the demands of our multiple product lines, where there are constantly changing process demands. We are also very pleased with CFM's outstanding service performance, another important factor when making tool-purchasing decisions."

"This order is further evidence of the expanding adoption of CFM's Full-Flow technology in the Taiwan market," said Roger Carolin, President and CEO. "We find that Taiwan customers clearly understand and appreciate both the economic and technology benefits they obtain by using our tools. In addition, the inherent flexibility of our system is a very good fit with the dynamics of chip factories where there is a broad and frequently changing product mix."

The discussion above regarding the Company's expectation of future sales and backlog and order activity includes certain forward-looking statements on these subjects. As such, actual results may vary materially from such expectations. Factors which could cause actual results to differ from expectations include variations in the level of orders, which can be affected by general economic conditions including the current economic and financial conditions in Asia; the timing of the recovery in the semiconductor industry, difficulties or delays in product functionality or performance, the timing of future product releases, failure to respond adequately to either changes in technology or customer preferences, or failure to realize a successful outcome to pending patent litigation.

CFM Technologies, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of advanced cleaning equipment for the semiconductor industry. Its systems provide superior contamination control and processing capabilities using a totally enclosed processing chamber. Watermarks and other drying defects are eliminated through CFM's Direct-Displace(tm) IPA vapor drying technology.
