Comptek Receives $3.1 Million U.S. Navy Contract for Mobile Remote Emitter Simulator

BUFFALO, N.Y., August 7, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Comptek Research, Inc. (AMEX:CTK) announced today that its subsidiary, Comptek Amherst Systems, received an order from the U.S. Navy, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, to build and deliver a third Mobile Remote Emitter Simulator (MRES) system. The $3.1 million order is part of a purchase program that could total $17.8 million.

"This MRES, for the U.S. Navy's Pacific Missile Range Facility, Barking Sands Kauai, Hawaii, simulates dynamically modern threats in an open-air environment to test electronic warfare systems and electronic support measures systems, as well as to train operators of these systems," said John Sciuto, Comptek chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We welcome the confidence of the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command Program Office, PMA-248, and are grateful to our New York Senators and Western New York Congressmen for their support."

Comptek received its first order for an MRES system in March 1999 for the Atlantic Test Ranges and Facilities, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, at Patuxent River, Maryland, and at the Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, North Carolina. Additional options will fully populate both sites in the future. A second MRES system was ordered in August 1999 for the US Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands Kauai, Hawaii.

Comptek Research, Inc., with offices and subsidiary locations in the United States, is a domestic and international supplier of technically advanced electronics and data communications systems to government and industry.
