Environmental Songwriting Contest Seeks 'Pollution Solution' for Earth Day 2001

Win $5,000 Worth of Prizes for Your Band!

SEBASTOPOL, Calif., April 20, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- The environment is in greater peril than ever before this Earth Day, and while government and scientists are pointing fingers and focusing on causes, efforts are underway in California to find a "Pollution Solution" by harnessing the creative power of music.

Alternative transportation developer ZAPWORLD.COM (Nasdaq:ZAPP) is calling on musical artists from around the world to find an answer to saving the environment. Starting on Earth Day, April 22, 2001, ZAPWORLD (ZAP) will host an environmental songwriting contest. The theme for the contest is: "Pollution Solution."

From now until December 31, 2001, submit a musical rendition of your original song to the contest. Each song will be judged on musical quality, lyrical quality, originality and message. A group of songs will be selected as finalists by a panel of judges and will be included in a compilation CD. The public can purchase the CD with all proceeds from the sale of the CD going to the environment. The public can then go online and cast their vote for the Grand Prize (and win cool prizes too!). The winner will be announced on Earth Day, 2002.

The Grand Prize of the "Pollution Solution" songwriting contest will win cool new gear for their band, including TAMA drums, Ibanez electric and bass guitars and amplifiers, three special edition ZAP "Roadie" electric scooters, outdoor survival gear from Survival-Gear.com, and more to be announced. For contest rules and details, visit the ZAP Website at http://www.zapworld.com/contest or call ZAP Marketing at 707/824-4150 x 216.

The contest is open to singers, songwriters and bands from around the world in all languages and musical styles. ZAP intends to create a "grass roots" campaign that would garner the maximum amount of exposure for the environment and is also looking for environmental organizations that would benefit from the promotion and help spread the word. As the contest moves forward, ZAP is welcoming other sponsors who will help spread the word by hosting information about the contest on their Website and offering other "gear" for the winner. ZAP is also seeking qualified judges to help make the final selection.

ZAP, which stands for Zero Air Pollution, helped pioneer the market for electric bikes and scooters in 1994. ZAP is a publicly owned company with stock trading on the Nasdaq Small Cap exchange under the symbol "ZAPP." For further information, visit http://www.zapworld.com.
