Harsco Corporation Awards 26 College Scholarships

Company Marks 27th Consecutive Year of Scholarship Awards to Top-Performing Children of Employees


HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 9, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its Harsco Fund charitable giving foundation has awarded 26 college scholarships totaling more than $350,000 to assist outstanding children of Harsco employees throughout the world obtain the advanced education necessary to reach their career goals.

This year's scholarship award winners were competitively selected based on outstanding academic achievement, community service, and leadership. The winners represent eight different Harsco operating countries including the United States. The Harsco Fund scholarships provide assistance toward university studies in any country and in any field, and can be worth as much as $3,500 per year.

The awards mark Harsco's 27th consecutive year of college scholarship grants to the outstanding children of its employees, during which time the Fund has awarded more than $2 million to more than 300 students. The scholarships are administered in conjunction with the National Merit Scholarship Program in the U.S. and through the Institute of International Education for international recipients.
