Nordea to Launch New Equity Fund, America Plus

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 1, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nordea Investment Funds Company Ltd. launches a new equity fund called Nordea America Plus. The fund will start operating on 11 February, 2002.

The investment fund Nordea America Plus invests primarily in equities in the United States, and secondarily in Canadian and Mexican equities. The investments are allocated to a selected group of companies, which are believed to perform better than the average. Nordea America Plus seeks actively to find these companies. The new fund complements the existing Nordea Plus fund family, in which the investments are more centralised than in a normal portfolio. This means that the fund's investments are spread among fewer companies than in normal funds.

- In the current market situation, Nordea America Plus is a rather interesting investment object as the U.S. holds a dominating position in the fund's investments, Jari Sundstrom, Managing Director of Nordea Investment Funds Ltd. points out.

Benchmark index Standard & Poor's 500 The fund's benchmark index is Standard & Poor's 500, which is the most commonly used benchmark index for measuring stock returns in the U.S. equity market. The fund is managed by Nordea Investment Management. The fees are as follows: subscription 1%, redemption 1%, management fee 1.6%.

Nordea is the leading financial services group in the Nordic and Baltic Sea region and operates through four business areas: Retail Banking, Asset Management & Life, Corporate and Institutional Banking and General Insurance. The Nordea Group has nearly 11 million customers, 1,260 bank branches and 125 insurance service centres in 21 countries.
