Doing an Earth Day Story? Get a Fresh Perspective on Earth Day From a Man Who's Painted the Earth

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 8, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- His art is as big as it gets ... on the sides of skyscrapers ... sports arenas ... zoos ... aquariums -- all in the spirit of raising environmental awareness around the world.

For more than two decades, the artist known as Wyland has captivated the world with his 90 towering marine life murals in 68 cities on four continents. As colorful in person as his art, Wyland can lend his insight from years of environmental outreach to enhance any story related to Earth Day

Wyland will be available to discuss:

- Ways to inspire children about conservation.

- How art is changing the way we see our environment.

- Why the state of our oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams will be one of the biggest environmental issues facing us in the next 50 years.

- The one thing a person can do to change the environment for the better.

Credentials: Environmental artist Wyland's work is seen by an estimated 1 billion people every year. In 1998, the United Nations named him the official artist for the International Year of the Ocean and issued a commemorative stamp in his honor. He has personally discussed environmental issues with nearly 1 million children over the last 20 years, and worked extensively with leading environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, Cousteau Society, and Greenpeace.

He has hosted his own show on TV's "Animal Planet," painted the world's largest mural on the Long Beach Convention Center, and in 2003 will partner with UC San Diego and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography to introduce "The Wyland Ocean Challenge: Clean Water for the 21st Century," a marine life-themed environmental educational curriculum for every school in America.
