HSRC: Cargo Security - Big Loads and Big Worries

With 50% of all passenger flights' `payload' consisting of largely unscreened air cargo, aviation security planners have a lot to worry about

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Homeland Security Research Corporation (HSRC) announced the publication of a new issue of the Homeland Security Analyst.

The latest issue of HSRC's newsletter examines areas of concern in cargo security, "dirty bomb" security, homeland security standards and the porting of "civilian" technologies and products to homeland security.

"Issue 4 of Homeland Security Analyst is mostly dedicated to in-depth examination of some of the major points of vulnerability left in our defenses," said Johnathan Tal, Homeland Security Research's President and Publisher. "The government and security planners know about these areas of vulnerability. It's important that the industry become aware of them as well, so it can focus on plugging these holes fast and in a cost-effective manner."

Topics which are addressed in this issue of the Homeland Security Analyst include:

-- Cargo on Passenger Flights - Aviation Security's Achilles Heel
-- Mitigating the Disruptive Terrorism of "Dirty Bombs"
-- Consumer Technologies To The Aid Of Homeland Security
-- Homeland Security Standards - Challenges and Opportunities

Homeland Security Analyst Issue 4 is available free of charge (for the time being) on HSRC's website www.hsrc.biz. An Adobe Acrobat pdf version of the newsletter is available for downloading.
