SDG&E Advises Customers to Inspect Furnaces, Re-Light Pilots Before First Major Cold Snap

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 11, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) --

             SDG&E service technician and a Spanish-speaking
spokesperson will discuss and demonstrate furnace safety
tips, how to re-light furnace pilot lights and other
simple steps to follow to ensure the safe operation of
             home heating appliances.

Street. Take ramp toward Alvarado Rd West/70th Street.

WHY: Winter is approaching, and evenings are turning chillier.
Homeowners and renters will be turning their furnaces on
for the first time. SDG&E wants to help customers avoid
delays in service by urging them to call now to have
furnace pilot lights lit. Proper and regular maintenance
of home furnaces and gas logs can help prevent production
of carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, and toxic gas.

VISUALS: An SDG&E service technician in uniform will inspect
burner flame, replace furnace filter, check venting and
discuss steps consumers can take to prepare their
furnace for winter to ensure safe operation.
