Whale Positioned in the Visionary Quadrant in Firewall Magic Quadrant

Whale Evaluated on Vision and Execution

FORT LEE, N.J., Feb. 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Whale Communications today announced that it has been positioned in the visionary quadrant in worldwide independent research and advisory firm Gartner Inc.'s prestigious Firewall Magic Quadrant report. The report evaluated some 18 vendors in the firewall space.

The report, titled "The Magic Quadrant for Network Firewalls, 2H04," was published on February 14, 2005, by Vice President and Distinguished Analyst John Pescatore and Research Director Greg Young and evaluated vendors based on their ability to execute and their completeness of vision. The report identified two categories of firewalls: network firewall vendors, and web application firewall vendors, which provide web application-specific protection. Whale was also positioned in the visionary quadrant in Gartner's SSL VPN Magic Quadrant, titled: "Magic Quadrant for SSL VPN," published in April of 2004 by Research Vice President John Girard.

"We are pleased that Gartner has positioned us in the Visionary quadrant in its Firewall Magic Quadrant," said Daniel Steiner, president of Whale. "Whale is a pioneer in the application firewall and remote access markets and this expertise positions us well when providing remote access to critical applications. We believe this placement in the SSL VPN Magic Quadrant confirms our long-standing strategy to provide enterprises best-of-breed integration between access and security technologies to maximize return on investment."

According to Gartner, vendors listed in the Visionary quadrant have a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimizing service delivery.
