When in Doubt, Pick up This Book -- Author Offers Prayers, Poems to Those in Need

OREGON, Ohio, April 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nearly everyone at some point in their life needs a prayer. Now, words of inspiration and comfort can be found easily in the new book, Come Lord Jesus Be Our Guest: Inspirational Poems and Prayers (now available through AuthorHouse), by Bob Haar.

Written over the course of a few decades, the book contains a wealth of words meant to help the reader through troubled times when the soul falters. Haar divides his writings into four sections so readers can easily find the comfort they need. The first section collects Haar's thoughts and emotions surrounding his father's death. He penned the poems as a way of understanding his grief and finding closure. The second part is devoted to inspirational, pensive and introspective poems written during his college years. The third part collects all of the poems Haar has written for his weekly sermons at First St. John Lutheran Church. The final section catalogues more than 200 prayers on a variety of subjects. From Alzheimer's to addiction to zealousness, Haar offers devotionals for those who cannot find a way to express themselves to God.

His words are woven with a deep sense of faith and love. He structured them so that they can be easily understood and recited as they dive to the heart of each issue. "Peace" offers a glimpse into the faith, love and wisdom he injects into his words and the catharsis the offer to those in need:

Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace, we humbly ask for a swift end to the conflicts that currently plague our nations. To know your peace, we must first ask for your forgiveness and understanding. If tranquility is to make a home in our countries, it must first make a home in our hearts. Grant us that feeling of internal peace, solitude and forgiveness, giving it to us by your body and blood, so that it might infiltrate the world. In your name we pray. Amen.

For those in need of a little comfort for their souls, Come Lord Jesus Be Our Guest invites them to share in the bounty of God's love and find inspiration in the written word.

Born and raised in northern Ohio, Haar has bachelor's degrees in communications and English literature from the University of Toledo and a master's degree in religion from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He has been writing sermons for more than 25 years and is currently a pastoral assistant who teaches catechism, preaches, designs worship services and leads Bible studies.
