Larry King's Biggest Show in Washington, DC: To Help Save a Heart a Day

                    and Joe Robert to be honored

WASHINGTON, March 20 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Larry King Cardiac Foundation will once again create a Hollywood on the Potomac at its annual "An Evening with Larry King and Friends" fundraising gala dinner. Hosts Larry King and Shawn Southwick-King celebrate their "Save a Heart a Day" campaign on Friday, March 24 at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, DC in the heart of Washington, DC. The cost of the sold-out gala has been underwritten by St. Jude Medical.

The incomparable Patti LaBelle, will headline the show. Critically acclaimed singer Vanessa Williams will open the evening. Improvisational comedic talent Wayne Brady will add the element of audience participation throughout the show. These performers have graciously donated their time in support of the Foundation. The live auction will feature the chance to have pop icon, Peter Max, paint a personal portrait.

The distinguished Gerald S. Snyder Heart Award will be given to Tim Donahue, Executive Chairman of Sprint Nextel. It will be presented by Washington Redskins owner, and Gala Dinner Chair, Dan Snyder, in honor of Dan's father, who died from heart disease in 2003.

The Spirit of Life Award will be presented to Joe Robert, Chairman and CEO of J.E. Robert Companies. The award will be presented by his good friend, Quincy Jones.

The Physician Laureate Award will be presented to Dr. Amol Bapat, the cardiologist who treated a Katrina victim in Atlanta, when the cardiac patient was evacuated the day of his surgery.

Featured auction items include a NASCAR package, a guitar signed by The Eagles, DVDs of TV Specials signed by Barbara Streisand, glitter sandals signed by Bette Midler, guitar and tour book autographed by Neil Diamond, and CDs autographed by Eric Clapton, Harry Connick, Jr. and Barry Manilow.

The Larry King Cardiac Foundation was established in 1988 to provide funding for life-saving cardiac procedures for individuals who, due to limited means and inadequate insurance, would otherwise be unable to receive treatment. The Foundation works with hospitals throughout the nation to ensure that such patients receive the medical attention they require. The Larry King Cardiac Foundation is funded from the proceeds of these annual galas, corporate sponsorships, and King's books and speaking engagements.
