Arnall Golden Gregory's Robert L. Rothman Elected Vice Chair of ABA Litigation Section

Rothman Will Chair the Largest Section of ABA in 2008-09

ATLANTA, Aug. 7, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Robert L. Rothman, a partner with Atlanta law firm Arnall Golden Gregory LLP, was elected on Friday as vice chair of the American Bar Association's Litigation Section. Rothman, who took office following the recent ABA annual meeting, will chair the 75,000-member Section in 2008-09.

The first Georgian to be elected vice chair of the ABA Litigation Section, Rothman will work with the current leadership to develop and to implement programs that benefit the Section's members. Under the Section's bylaws, Rothman will become chair-elect next August and take the gavel in August 2008.

"The installment of Bob Rothman as vice chair of the ABA Litigation Section will mark not only a significant professional milestone for him personally, but reflect well upon AGG, the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia as a whole," said AGG Managing Partner William H. Kitchens. "As the first Georgian to hold the position, Bob will bring increased visibility to the Georgia legal community, elevating its standing among the nation's preeminent attorneys."

Rothman has been active in the ABA since 1989. He just completed a term as co-chair of the Section's Legal Services Training Committee, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the ABA's Death Penalty Representation Project.

The American Bar Association, with a membership of more than 400,000, provides lawyers and judges with professional resources, leadership and advocacy on important legal issues as well as opportunities for professional development and networking. Rothman is a member of AGG's Executive Committee. His legal experience covers a wide variety of complex business litigation disputes involving contracts, partnership agreements, securities, business torts, breaches of fiduciary duty, First Amendment and media law issues, and franchise agreements.

Rothman was named a "Georgia Super Lawyer" by Atlanta Magazine in 2004, 2005 and 2006 for his work in business litigation. As a former professional journalist, he has a particular interest in media law. In addition to his active participation in the American Bar Association, Rothman also serves on the Georgia Bar Media and Judiciary Conference Planning Committee and is a member of the board of directors of the Georgia First Amendment Foundation.

Rothman graduated with high honors in 1974 from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications and in 1982 with highest honors from Florida State University College of Law.
