Blue Hill Troupe Presents: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. . .And Reveals Some 'Loesser'-Known Facts

NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Blue Hill Troupe will present How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, November 3-11, 2006, at Dicapo Opera Theater, 184 East 76th Street.

Blue Hill Troupe, now entering its 83rd season, produces a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every spring and a musical every fall, with the proceeds benefiting a different New York City charity each year. The impressive total donated to date now tops $3 million. This year's productions will benefit The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

How to Succeed... features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. A few fun "Loesser"-known facts about the show:

-- In addition to winning multiple Tony Awards, the original
production won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama -- only the fourth
    awarded to a musical.

-- The original production ran for over three years, with 1,417
performances, closing in March of 1965, making it the
fifth-longest running musical of that time and Frank Loesser's
    longest running musical.

-- Robert Morse and Matthew Broderick both won Tony awards for
their portrayals of J. Pierpont Finch, 34 years apart.

Blue Hill Troupe's production will be directed by Barry McNabb, whose work has been seen at Westchester Broadway Theater, Irish Repertory Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse, and The Public Theatre. Well-known vocal coach and accompanist Paul Chamlin is musical director.

Tickets are $32.50, general admission, and can be ordered by telephone at 212-988-2012, or online at www.Ticketstage.com.

Blue Hill Troupe has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and appeared twice at Carnegie Hall with Skitch Henderson and The New York Pops. For the last twelve years, they have presented a G&S concert as part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Concerts and Lectures series, where they will return in February 2007. The Blue Hill Troupe was honored with three awards at the 12th Annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK, for their innovative production of the G&S rarity, The Grand Duke.

The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) was established in 1875 as the first child protection agency in the world, and since its inception, its contributions to the child welfare sector have been revolutionary, continuous and global. The NYSPCC's creation sparked a movement focused on preventing child abuse and neglect and protecting children from harm. Proceeds from Blue Hill Troupe's production of How to Succeed... will benefit the NYSPCC's Trauma Recovery Program, which provides critical mental health counseling services to children in New York City who have endured horrific abuse.
