Lovita Tandy Chairs King & Spalding's Diversity Committee

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 6, 2007 -- King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, has named Lovita Tandy chair of the firm's diversity committee. Tandy will be responsible for continuing to improve and implement the firm's diversity strategies and training, working with minority and female attorneys on specific development and advancement plans, and working with practice group leaders to ensure execution of diversity strategies.

Tandy, a labor and employment partner in the firm's business litigation practice group, succeeds Kevin R. Sullivan, whose term ended in 2006. Sullivan is a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C.-based antitrust practice.

King & Spalding's diversity committee includes firm leaders and has directed action to advance diversity both within the firm and in the legal profession as a whole, including increasing the number of women and minorities hired, providing diversity training to the firm's attorneys, creating a mentoring program and committing funds to a minority scholarship program. In 2006, the committee also hosted its first minority attorney retreat and launched the King & Spalding Diversity Fellowship Program. The fellowship provides a $10,000 stipend and summer clerkship to up to four students each year.

The committee has helped the firm win acclaim for its diversity efforts, including being ranked 16th in the nation for diversity by MultiCultural Law Magazine based on the diversity of the firm's lawyers, mentoring program and the commitment of the firm's leadership to diversity.

Tandy's practice focuses on traditional labor law, employment discrimination litigation, and employment related contractual disputes. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Sections and the Litigation Sections of the American, Georgia and Atlanta Bar Associations and of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the National Employment Law Council. She is former vice president of the Atlanta Anti-Prejudice Awareness Consortium.

"Our diversity committee has continued to make significant strides, and Lovita is committed to continuing that momentum in advancing our diversity initiatives," says Robert D. Hays, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding. "Achieving a work environment that encourages diversity is a fundamental core value of King & Spalding."
