Net Insight Boosts Network Efficiency on long-haul services for The Switch

NOTE: Net Insight first announced this order on March 8, 2007, but without customer name and customer quote.

LAS VEGAS (NAB), APRIL 17, 2007 - Net Insight, a leading provider of efficient optical transport solutions for media, broadcast and IP networks, has added Beers Enterprises, Inc. (BEI) to its Nimbra customer roster, enabling the company to enhance video switching services to the broadcast industry. BEI owns and operates The Switch® in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, DC.

Net Insight's Nimbra platform is providing The Switch with a uniform backhaul distribution network spanning the North American continent with an increased ability for local ingest and multicast capability into the future.

The Switch relies on the Nimbra platform for long-haul services between New York and Los Angeles. These services include customer-controlled video switching, Inter City On Demand (ICOD) transmissions and metro video circuits delivered to customers ranging from television networks and local broadcast stations to common carriers and content producers.  The Switch plans to further extend the Nimbra network to other regional and local networks in-order to extend its capability and services.

"Our customer control approach and on demand long haul transmission services are breakthroughs for the industry, " said Scott Beers, Chairman and CEO of BEI.  "Net Insight's Nimbra product furthers our ability to transport multiple SDI paths to serve both standard definition and compressed high-definition TV (HDTV) and if requested by our customers, we are positioned to offer uncompressed HDTV transport."

Net Insight's Nimbra platform is a complete range of multi-service transport equipment for broadcast networks.  It increases network bandwidth efficiency by up to 300 percent without sacrificing the required 100 percent quality of service (QoS).  Higher bandwidth efficiency allows The Switch to deliver more services at a higher level within its existing network.

"The Switch is expanding its network capacity and needed an efficient and reliable platform  to deliver new video offerings," said Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO for Net Insight.  "The Nimbra platform upgrades their network to better utilize capacity and add new services, while reducing operational costs by up to 50 percent."
