LIVERMORE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 24, 2007 --UltraCell Corporation, a leading producer of
reformed methanol fuel cells (RMFCs) for mobile power applications, has
been awarded the 2007 Frost & Sullivan North American Product Innovation
Award. The company's RMFC technology was honored for its ability to
continuously power portable military, industrial and consumer electronic
devices twice as efficiently as conventional direct methanol fuel cells
(DMFCs). Frost & Sullivan also cited the company's use of proprietary
materials resulting in fuel cell stacks half the size of conventional
DMFCs.
UltraCell's RMFC technology incorporates a revolutionary micro reformer
that reforms a highly concentrated methanol solution to generate
fuel-cell-ready hydrogen. Whether for a soldier in the field, an emergency
first-responder or a researcher in a remote location, the UltraCell system
ensures more efficient, reliable mobile power for portable electronic
devices anytime, anywhere.
"We believe UltraCell's work could accelerate the commercialization of
cost-efficient, effective fuel cells for portable military, industrial and
consumer electronic devices," said Industry Analyst Viswanathan Krishnan.
"We selected UltraCell for the 2007 Product Innovation Award for its novel
approach to design and its continued advance in the competitive fuel cell
industry."
"Technological innovation is at the center of our efforts to provide
cleaner, more efficient portable power, and we are committed to developing
premier technologies in the field of methanol-based fuel cells," said James
Kaschmitter, CEO and president of UltraCell. "We are particularly honored
to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan in this way for our industry-leading
work in fuel cell design."
