IRWINDALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 12, 2007) - Falcon Electric, Inc. (
www.falconups.com), an
award-winning supplier of power protection and conversion solutions, has
just added another commendation to its list of industry accolades: Finalist
of Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) magazine's coveted "A Perfect 10"
award for the ED Series™ Rackmount Frequency and Phase Converters. CSE's
judges were impressed by the products' unique ability to accept a
three-phase source and converting it to clean single-phase power --
eliminating phase imbalance problems. In addition, the judges also
considered how the compact ED Series features a true double-conversion
design with frequency conversion, precision output regulation and full
power conditioning. For the competition, CSE will present the ED Series in
its annual "Specifiers Guide" as readers vote to place products in the
Gold, Silver or Bronze categories. The product with the most votes will
receive the honor of 2007's "Most Valuable Product."
About the ED Series™
Phase imbalance is a continual problem when single-phase equipment with
various current ratings are connected to individual phases of a three-phase
source -- often causing problems for other three-phase equipment connected
to the same system. Phase imbalance can result in high or excessive third
order harmonics, nuisance tripping of circuit breakers and destructive
over-heating. The ED Series Frequency and Phase Converters
(
http://falconups.com/ed-400hz-3-phase-rack.htm) solve this problem by
connecting to a 200/115Vac, 400Hz three-phase input source. The three-phase
power is isolated and converted to DC, regulated and fed into an inverter.
It then creates a low impedance 120Vac, 50/60/400Hz single-phase output,
with +/-3% regulation. Compact and lightweight, the innovative converters
fit easily into a 19-inch rack or portable racking systems. The 1.5, 2 and
2.4kVA models weigh only 45 lbs. Additionally, the 2U rackmount units
offer double-conversion design, frequency conversion and optional battery
backup, making the ED Series an ideal solution for a number of challenging
power problems.
CSE Product of the Year
Launched in 2005 by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine, the CSE "A
Perfect 10" awards program was designed to identify the best new products
for engineered building systems. Now in its third year, the competition has
proved an enormous success -- and an effective means of identifying best
products that have been developed in the preceding year.
How It Works
Every spring, CSE's staff convenes a panel of judges, comprised of
consulting engineers from various disciplines and other industry experts,
to finalize entrants for the "Product of the Year" competition. With so
many entries, this initial step is necessary to narrow the list of
finalists for which CSE readers will vote. Finalists are determined in the
following categories:
-- Power Generation
-- Electrical Distribution
-- Building Automation and Controls
-- HVAC
-- Plumbing
-- Fire Protection
-- Communications/Security
-- Motors, Starters & Drives
-- Lighting
The "Product of the Year" finalists are publicly announced in June, and
readers are given time to vote for these contestants online at
www.csemag.com. Once the votes are tallied, the results determine an
overall grand winner -- as well as Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in each
of the categories. The results will be published in CSE's November issue.
The competition will begin in the next few weeks at
www.csemag.com. For
