Robert Perry Named Managing Partner of King & Spalding's New York Office

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 30, 2007) - King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, announced today that Robert F. Perry, 49, has been appointed managing partner of its New York office. He replaces Michael J. O'Brien, who resigned from the firm.

A noted patent litigator with extensive experience in electrical and computer engineering, Perry joined King & Spalding's New York office as a partner in August 2004 from Kenyon & Kenyon, where he was a member of its management committee. Perry has been instrumental in expanding King & Spalding's intellectual property practice in New York, especially in the areas of patent litigation and patent prosecution.

In his new role as managing partner, Perry will oversee the firm's New York office.

Commenting on his own appointment, Perry said: "I am honored to be asked to manage the firm's New York office. I look forward to building on our strong foundation. We will continue to develop our practices of corporate/private equity, real estate capital markets, finance, financial restructuring, intellectual property, securities/business litigation, international arbitration and professional services liability. We will also explore opportunities in further service areas. We are enthusiastic about the many opportunities before the firm as a whole and I expect the New York office to continue to be at the center of many of them."

Robert D. Hays, Jr., chairman of King & Spalding, said: "We are proud to have Bob's capabilities and leadership skills as part of the firm's management team. This is an exciting time for King & Spalding, which is in a strong expansion phase. We opened three new offices in the past year and have added 52 lawyers, including 8 partners, in New York in the past 18 months. Bob is committed to driving forward our key initiatives and growth."

In July 2007, King & Spalding opened an office in Charlotte, North Carolina, its third new office in the last year and its eighth worldwide location. This latest expansion came on the heels of its strong performance in 2006, with double-digit growth in revenue and profits per partner. The firm also opened an office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in December 2006, and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in April of this year.

Perry earned a B.E.E. from Manhattan College in 1979, an M.B.A. from Seton Hall University in 1984 and a J.D. from Seton Hall Law School, magna cum laude, in 1989.

King & Spalding's New York office employs 130 lawyers practicing in a variety of areas including banking, business litigation, corporate finance, energy, financial restructuring, intellectual property, Islamic finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, tax and real estate, among others.
