London School of Economics Adds Wimba Solutions

Compatibility With Open Source CMS/VLE Highlights Versatility

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 2, 2007) - Wimba, the education technology company that helps people teach people, today announced that the London School of Economics (LSE) has significantly expanded its use of Wimba technologies to further enhance the collaborative nature of the school's course management system/virtual learning environment (CMS/VLE) -- Moodle.

LSE, an ongoing user of Wimba Voice Tools, will now implement Wimba Live Classroom 5.0, thereby utilizing the company's full suite of synchronous and asynchronous education tools -- the 'Wimba Collaboration Suite.' LSE's recently initiated two-year transition to the Moodle open source platform highlights Wimba's versatility and seamless integration with all leading CMS/VLEs.

"Our past success with Wimba has helped give us the confidence to move into this new era," said Steve Ryan, director of the LSE Centre for Learning Technology. "We are looking forward to exploring the potential of the Live Classroom tools."

LSE will implement Wimba Live Classroom 5.0, the virtual classroom that delivers supporting audio, video, application sharing, content display and more. Live Classroom enables instructors to add vital interaction to courses, including live online classes, office hours, guest lectures, webcasts, and meetings that humanize and enrich the online learning experience for students.

"LSE continues to show its leadership in providing highly collaborative online learning opportunities for students that are also highly flexible and simple to facilitate for instructors," said Wimba CEO Tommaso Trionfi. "We look forward to delivering a new level of collaboration on behalf of this esteemed institution."

Live Classroom will be complemented at LSE with the continued use of Wimba Voice Tools and broader utilization of the Wimba Collaboration Suite in the future.
