Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen has been appointed the new CEO of Carlsberg A/S. He will
take up the position on 1 October, replacing 49-year-old Nils S. Andersen, who
after six years as CEO of Carlsberg will become Group CEO of A.P. Møller -
Mærsk A/S.
Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen is 52 years old and has been a member of Carlsberg's
Executive Board since April 2006. Povl Krogsgaard-Larsen, Chairman of
Carlsberg's Board of Directors, describes Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen as the right
person to ensure continuity in Carlsberg's business strategy and to develop the
company further.
"Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen has extensive international experience in the fast
moving consumer goods business, and he is already part of Carlsberg's Executive
Board. Furthermore, through his responsibility for Carlsberg's business in
Eastern Europe and the joint-venture cooperation in BBH, he has contributed
significantly to Carlsberg's positive development. I am convinced that he will
know how to create innovation in existing markets and see opportunities in
emerging markets," says Povl Krogsgaard-Larsen, who also highlights Jørgen Buhl
Rasmussen's ability to create commitment and engagement among the employees.
Prior to joining Carlsberg, Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen was based in London as
President of the Gillette Group in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
And prior to this he held other leading positions with Gillette, Duracell,
Master Foods and Lagerman.
At the same time, Jørn P. Jensen, Carlsberg's 43-year-old CFO, has been
appointed Deputy CEO.
Jørgen Buhl Rasmussen and Jørn P. Jensen will constitute the future Executive
Board.
A press conference on the appointments will be held today at 11.00 CET (10.00
GMT) at Carlsberg's headquarters, Ny Carlsberg Vej 100, Copenhagen.
