RMWTUG to Demonstrate IPv6 at September 2007 Meetings
DENVER, CO and COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--(Marketwire - September 7, 2007) - The Rocky Mountain
Windows Technology User Group (RMWTUG) is planning to demonstrate the use
of IPv6 at its September 2007 meetings in Denver and Colorado Springs. The
meetings will include an IPv6 technology overview and the demonstration
will include Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows XP in an IPv6
network.
IPv6 is short for "Internet Protocol Version 6." IPv6 is the next
generation protocol designed by the IETF to replace the current version
Internet Protocol, IP Version 4 ("IPv4"). Various sources project that all
the IPv4 addresses will be exhausted in the next three to five years. IPv6
corrects a number of problems in IPv4, such as the limited number of
available IPv4 addresses. The US Federal government agencies are expected
to upgrade their network backbones to support IPv6 by June 2008. Major IPv6
efforts are also underway in Europe, Japan, and elsewhere.
The presenter will be Scott Hogg, Director of Advanced Technology Services
at Global Technology Resources (www.gtri.com). Scott Hogg has been a
network computing consultant for more than 15 years and is currently the
Chair of the Rocky Mountain IPv6 Task Force.

The Denver meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. The
Colorado Springs meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19 at 7:00
