Atlas Copco wins order in Turkey for high-speed train tunneling project Stockholm, Sweden, December 7, 2007: Atlas Copco has received an order in Turkey to supply tunneling equipment to the Cengiz-IC Ictas-Belen consortium, which is building a high-speed train railway between Ankara and Istanbul. The contract is valued at about MSEK 94 (MEUR 10). The order was booked in the fourth quarter and includes 13 tunnel drilling rigs and two surface crawler rigs, which will be used for the second phase of the high speed train project. The equipment will be used for excavation of 39 kilometers of tunnel in 40 different locations. Upon completion in 2010, the new railway will more than halve the travel time between Ankara and Istanbul to approximately 3 hours. “The productivity and reliability of our equipment was essential in winning this order and we are proud of the strong relationship we are building with Cengiz-IC Ictas-Belen,” says Björn Rosengren, President of Atlas Copco's business area Construction and Mining Technique. “This project highlights the increasing importance of global infrastructure development for the growth of our business.” The contract also includes orders from IC Ictas and Cengiz for drill rigs and load handling equipment to be used in other projects.
