For the past 19 months, Ruben served as Senior Vice President with Englander & Associates, providing strategic counsel to meet the public, government, and media affairs needs of Englander & Associates clients.

About Ruben Gonzalez:
Prior to joining the firm Ruben served as Director of Government Affairs to Los Angeles City Controller Laura Chick. Working as one of her senior deputies, he coordinated legislative and political strategy and served as liaison to the Mayor and City Council. During his tenure Ruben successfully drove the Controller's policy and budget initiatives including, streamlining of the City's contracting process, the creation and funding of the City Controller's Waste and Fraud Investigation Unit and significant improvements to the City's ethics rules.
Before working with the City of Los Angeles, Ruben managed public affairs operations for Access Services Inc., where he directed legislative advocacy and media relations. Ruben raised the profile of ASI in Washington DC and sponsored successful legislation in the halls of Sacramento and at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Ruben has a strong background in transportation and environmental policy, having worked for the California Transit Association and the South Coast Air Quality Management District Board.
He began his career with former Los Angeles City Councilmember Ruth Galanter and former California Assemblyman and current California State Senator Lou Correa, where he focused on community, policy, and media issues.
