“Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd continues increasing handling amount also in 2008


Starting with 2008, tendencies of increasing handling amounts of crude oil and
petroleum products that were observed throughout 2007 are continuing at the
““Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd, a subsidiary of JSC “Ventspils Nafta” and
crude oil and petroleum product transhipment company. 

In January of 2008, more than 1.2 million tons of crude oil and petroleum
products were handled at ““Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd, which is 0.3
million tons more than in January of 2007. In the structure of the handled
cargos during the first month of the current year, major proportion is formed
by diesel petrol delivered by railway and by oil product pipelines - 0.9
million tons. Different sorts of car petrol transported by railway amount to
0.2 million tons of the total handling amount, but crude oil and petroleum
products delivered by sea - 0.1 million tons. 

Cargo increase tendencies at ““Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd have been
observed since 1997 upon the international oil and gas consortium Vitol Group
company becoming a joint owner. Crude oil and petroleum product handling amount
at the terminal increased for more than twice, namely for 133.3% in 2007,
exceeding 10 million tons again for the first time since 2003. 

 ““Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd is a subsidiary of JSC “Ventspils Nafta”
having 51% owned by JSC “Ventspils Nafta”, but 49% - by Vitol company Euromin
Holdings (Cyprus) Limited. The terminal renders transit services - receiving
oil and diesel petrol delivered by pipelines, as well as receiving, storage and
transhipment of diesel petrol, car petrol and other petroleum product cargos
delivered by railway or sea. 

 ““Ventspils Nafta” Terminals” Ltd is the largest of such companies in the
region. Its crude oil and petroleum product shore-tank farm reaches 1.2 million
cubic meters, and it has no analogues among similar companies in the nearest
countries.
