Central government payments gave a surplus in March

Central government payments in March gave a surplus of SEK 10.2 billion. The Debt Office's forecast was a deficit of SEK 3.0 billion.

The deviation is mainly explained by tax revenue being SEK 9.2 billion higher than expected and the Debt Office's net lending being SEK 3.7 billion lower.

Interest payments on central government debt were SEK 7.1 billion, which was SEK 1.7 billion higher than expected. This is explained by larger exchange rate losses.

The surplus for the twelve-month period up to the end of March amounted to SEK 144 billion. Central government debt amounted to SEK 1 075 billion at the end of March.

The outcome for April 2008 will be published at 9.30 am on 8 May 2008.
