Infinera Unveils New System, New PICs at NXTcomm08

New Infinera Line System ILS2 Scoops EOS Award

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2008) - Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) has a full agenda of new products, technologies, and demonstrations in store for NXTcomm08. At next week's NXTcomm08, Infinera will unveil the Infinera ILS2 line system, its first major new product since the launch of the Infinera DTN. The new line system, with future scalability to 8 Terabits/second of total capacity as well as important enhancements in spectral density and optical reach, will be on display at Infinera Booth Number SU5607. The ILS2 includes technology based on Infinera's second platform for photonic integration, highly integrated planar lightwave circuits or passive photonic integrated circuits (PICs).

Further details are available in two related press releases, also published today: Infinera Introduces New Line System, Sets New Standard for Capacity and Infinera Unveils New Passive PIC Platform. Infinera also announced today that SAVVIS, Inc., a global leader in IT infrastructure services for business applications, has selected Infinera for a regional optical network. Award-Winning ILS2

The ILS2 system has been honored by the organizers of NXTcomm08 with a prestigious EOS Award for 2008. The ILS2 won the prize for Technology Innovation in Optical Networking in recognition of significant innovations including the implementation of 160 DWDM channels in the C-band, an innovation made possible by the use of passive PIC technology. Chosen by a panel of 15 judges including service providers, consultants and technical journalists, EOS Award winners represent, according to NXTcomm Executive Director Wayne Crawford "the best and most promising advancements to the network-enabled voice, video, and data ecosystem."

"We are honored to receive this year's EOS award for the Infinera ILS2," said Chris Liou, Infinera's Vice President of Product Management. "With the ILS2, we sought to take the features and capabilities of Infinera's first optical line system to new levels, and create a system with some of the best performance metrics in the industry, while still retaining all the rapid service delivery and plug-and-play capabilities of Digital Optical Networks."
