Airspan Announces New Range of Subscriber Devices for Mobile WiMAX
Expanded Portfolio Includes USB, Desktop and Outdoor Models for Residential and Business Applications
| Source: Airspan Networks Inc.
CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - October 1, 2008) - Airspan Networks Inc. (NASDAQ : AIRN ), a leading
provider of WiMAX-based broadband wireless access networks, announced today
the launch of a new suite of mobile WiMAX subscriber products that will be
unveiled at the WiMAX World Conference and Expo in Chicago this week. The
new MiMAX™ next-generation devices expand Airspan's Mobile WiMAX
portfolio to address the demanding service requirements of subscribers for
high-capacity Internet connectivity, VoIP and Wi-Fi capabilities.
Building on the success of Airspan's award-winning MiMAX USB subscriber
station, the industry's first and only Quad-Band WiMAX device which
achieved WiMAX Forum™ Wave II certification in June of this year,
Airspan's WiMAX product strategy is designed to lead the industry in
technology and features. Airspan innovation solves key operator challenges
associated with indoor coverage and capacity -- challenges which are
apparent to carriers who have deployed immature mobile WiMAX solutions.
The new MiMAX products continue Airspan's history of excellence in
innovation, combining advanced signal processing with full MIMO
capabilities and high power to ensure maximum performance, capacity and
range. The new MiMAX indoor and outdoor devices include features such as
single or dual VoIP ports, integrated router and Wi-Fi options, and are
available in single-band configurations in the 2- to 3-GHz frequency range.
"Too many WiMAX vendors are shipping immature products that in some cases
have negatively affected customer business cases and reputations. Airspan
has always focused on being the first to market with complete solutions and
industry-leading technology. For example, we offered the MiMAX Q-Series
USB with features that are still only available from Airspan even a year
after its release," stated Airspan Chief Operations Officer, Uzi Shalev.
"Building on that technology, we are now releasing a family of products
that will be attractive to a wide range of carriers -- broad product suite,
lots of features, high performance, stylish design -- all attributes for
which Airspan is recognized."
Samples for all devices are available now, with production quantities
planned for the fourth quarter of 2008.
