Avilar Announces Latest Upgrades to WebMentor Learning Management System(TM)

New Reporting Capabilities Allow Organizations to Track Spending, Training Progress More Easily

COLUMBIA, MD--(Marketwire - December 15, 2008) - Avilar, Inc., a leading provider of competency management and learning management solutions, today unveiled the latest version of its WebMentor Learning Management System™ (LMS), a feature-rich learning management system that is consistently rated as a low-cost, high-value solution by the talent management analyst firm, Brandon Hall. Version 6.1 of Avilar's WebMentor LMS enables organizations to deliver and manage both online and instructor-led courses and assessments more easily; track students' activities and certifications with improved reporting capabilities; and approve employees' registrations requests to manage the costs of training. Version 6.1 also strengthens e-commerce with an upgraded shopping cart feature.

For training managers, Avilar has added features for improved reporting. Standard reports provide critical information to track training progress within an organization as well as justify investments in training material. In addition, Avilar has made it easier for organizations to add their own reports to the system beyond the wide variety of Avilar's standard reports. Version 6.1 also gives organizations the ability to specify that a participant's request for courses or subscriptions require a supervisor's approval before being processed.

"Justifying the expense of employee development during the current economic conditions is particularly important for our customers. Often organizations rush to make cuts -- such as to training budgets -- when making strategic investments in training will, in fact, pay off handsomely in the future," said, Joe Jaynes, director of Customer Operations, Avilar.

For training companies that are selling content, Version 6.1 provides an upgraded shopping facility that makes it easier and more efficient for companies to purchase courses. WebMentor LMS 6.1 also enables these organizations to create marketing incentives such discounts and coupons with flexible rules very easily.

Version 6.1's enhancements have been added in Avilar's traditional style, which allows new features to be used without causing undue clutter in the user interface. Tom Grobicki, CEO of Avilar, commented, "Our products are designed in direct response to the great ideas that we get from our clients. These ideas, coupled with our own market research, help our solutions pragmatically address customer needs without introducing needless clutter and complexity which only serves to bog down e-learning initiatives."

WebMentor LMS was the first learning management system to be recognized as certified SCORM compliant by ADL and Avilar remains committed to being an e-Learning standards leader. WebMentor LMS 6.1 is available via a software-as-a-service model or as an on-premise installed software solution.
