ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - January 29, 2009) - John
Yates, chair of the Technology Group at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, and Jason
D'Cruz, head of the law firm's Indus Group, have been invited to speak
in India next month at major business and legal conferences in Delhi and
Bangalore. In addition to the speaking engagements, the trip has three main
goals:
-- To solidify the firm's Indo-American relationships and contacts in the
Indian technology community
-- To locate new sources of capital for U.S. entrepreneurs and potential
partners for mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships
-- To assist the Metro
Atlanta Chamber of Commerce in making Atlanta the "U.S. gateway" to
Indian technology companies
"We want to forge U.S-Indian business and technology alliances that will
help both our clients and our region's economy as a whole," Mr. Yates said.
"Our lawyers make regular visits to India to keep up with the dynamic and
fast-growing Indian market," added Mr. D'Cruz, who chairs the firm's Indus
Group, which focuses on doing business with India. "Our clients benefit
greatly from MMM's awareness of the cultural aspects of Indian businesses
and entrepreneurs."
"India is a critical market within the Chamber's global commerce strategy,"
said Hans Gant, senior vice president of economic development for the Metro
Atlanta Chamber. "Its growing economy continues to offer business
opportunities for metro Atlanta companies, and its investment in the U.S.
is growing faster than any other Asian country. Atlanta is perfectly
positioned to become India's gateway to not only the U.S., but the Western
Hemisphere."
On February 17, Messrs. Yates and D'Cruz will deliver a presentation on
"Doing Business in the USA - Key Legal and Business Pointers" at the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce in
Bangalore. They will share their experience on more than a dozen topics
including intellectual property, employment, insurance and tax issues,
business financing, corporate finance and choosing strategic partners. Mr.
D'Cruz will also speak at iTechLaw's 5th
International Asian Conference in Gurgaon-Delhi on February 19,
providing the U.S. perspective on a panel, "The Global Technology Workforce
Today - Stories from the Trenches." Topics will include outsourcing,
changing regulations, M&A workforce integration issues, and protection of
employee data. In addition, Mr. Yates will participate in NASSCOM 2009, The India
leadership Forum.
Mr. Yates, who chairs the firm's Technology Group, is a pioneer in the
technology law field and has provided legal counsel to hundreds of tech
companies. A member of the Board of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce,
he also chairs MACPAC, its political action committee and is past chair of
its Technology Marketing Council. In addition to chairing Morris, Manning &
Martin's Indus Group, Mr. D'Cruz is a partner in the firm's Employment Law
Group, representing public and private companies throughout the U.S. on
employment and executive compensation issues. He and Mr. Yates are founding
and charter members of the Atlanta chapter of TiE - The Indus
Entrepreneurs, the world's largest not-for-profit organization for
entrepreneurs.
