OCI is Awarded USD 258 million Contract to Build the New Abu Qir
Thermal-Powered 1,300 MW Power Plant in Egypt
Egypt-based Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) announced today that
it has been awarded a contract worth the equivalent of USD 258 million
for the civil works on the new 1,300 MW steam-powered power plant in
Abu Qir - Alexandria, Egypt. The scope of civil works includes piling,
concrete works, plant's stack and the procurement, fabrication and
erection of steel structures.
The client is the state-owned West Delta Electricity Production Company
("WDEPC").
The OCI Construction Group is currently performing construction
services on numerous power plants in Egypt and Algeria with a total
power generation capacity of 4,150 MW.
