Environmental Artist Wyland to Create World's Largest Painting of Planet Earth for Earth Day

 What:       Artist Wyland will paint a three-acre image of the planet
             earth in a 24-hour span on the top of the Long Beach
             Convention Center for Earth Day.

 Where:      Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center, 300 E.
             Ocean Blvd.

 Who:        Artist Wyland is best known for his monumental Whaling
             Wall mural project -- an epic series of life-size marine
             life murals that spans fourteen countries on four
             continents and is viewed by an estimated 1 billion people
             every year. His non-profit foundation teaches thousands
             of students throughout the United States and Mexico to
             become informed stewards of our ocean, rivers, lakes,
             streams, and wetlands.

 When:       April 21-22. Painting will start at 7 AM

 Background: The non-profit project continues the artist's restoration
             work on the iconic "Planet Ocean" mural on the arena.
             Named the world's largest painting by the Guinness Book
             of World Records in 1992, the addition of the roof top
             mural will double the total painted surface, bringing the
             project to six acres. The project was made possible
             DisneyNature Studios, SMG, Long Beach Convention &
             Visitors Bureau, Fredrix Artist Canvas, Astek Wall
             Covering and the city of Long Beach. Dunn Edwards
             provided eco-friendly paints for the project.
