In 2008, LKQ used its best management practices to process over 440,000 vehicles. The practices are in place to assure both hazardous and non-hazardous fluids, mercury switches, batteries and other byproducts of the recycling process are removed to be recycled or reused, if possible. The remaining waste products are disposed of properly.
