CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - May 6, 2009) - Kathy Apple, MS, RN, CAE, CEO, National Council
of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN),
www.ncsbn.org, has been selected to
serve on the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Observatory on Licensure
and Registration.
The Observatory consists of a small, invited cross-sectional group
established to provide ICN with feedback on emerging and future trends in
regulation, strategic initiatives to be undertaken and policy stances ICN
should consider. Representing North America, Apple's knowledge of
regulation in the U.S. will assist the group in its goal to anticipate and
respond to international regulatory developments.

Serving as NCSBN CEO since June 2001, Apple brings more than 34 years of
nursing and regulation experience to her position. Prior to her tenure at
NCSBN, Apple served as executive director of the Nevada State Board of
Nursing and on the NCSBN Board of Directors as director-at-large and vice
president. Apple holds a Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing from the
University of Nevada, Reno, a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology
from the University of Alaska and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from
California State University, Long Beach. She is a Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow Alumni and credentialed by the American
Society of Association Executives as a certified association executive.
