Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority Offers Technology Tour to Public Attending CTAA Expo on June 4

RIPTA Using RouteMatch Software's Intelligent Transport System Technology to Schedule and Manage Its RIde Program and Flex Service; RIPTA Technology Tour Part of the Community Transportation Association of America Expo 2009 at the Convention Center: May 31-June 5


PROVIDENCE, RI--(Marketwire - May 27, 2009) - On June 4th, the Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) will be hosting a technology tour for attendees of the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) Expo, highlighting its completely integrated Intelligent Transportation System which includes automated scheduling software from RouteMatch Software, automated integrated voice recognition (IVR) technology from LogicTree Corporation; and in-vehicle computers from Mentor Engineering, Inc.

Join the RIPTA staff for a technology tour that promises to be informative and educational. RIPTA will provide a free shuttle from the Rhode Island Convention Center (Providence, RI) to the technology tour on Thursday, June 4, at 9:00 a.m. and at 3:15 p.m. -- each tour will meet on Sabin Street and last approximately two hours.

"You'll get to see how we can now schedule the best passenger grouping and select the most efficient route automatically, send an electronic manifest to the drivers via their on-board computers, while our GPS system downloads route instructions direct to the driver," explained Wood.
