Smith brings more than two decades of experience involving all aspects of
corporate financial strategy and management in varied environments. Prior
to joining EducationDynamics, Smith served as Chief Financial Officer of
Datran Media, where he helped transition the online marketing company from
a corporate model based in entrepreneurship to a professional enterprise
prepared for an Initial Public Offering. Additionally, Smith held the
position of CFO with marketing consulting firm Peppers and Rogers Group and
also served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer at Primedia, Inc., a
leading media company. He started his career at The Bank of New York, where
he rose to Senior Vice President of the bank's media lending division.
Smith is well-versed in the areas of strategic financial planning, capital
markets, accounting/budgeting, fiscal operations, corporate tax as well as
mergers and acquisitions, and has proven his skills in leading companies
through the IPO process, restructuring accounting systems, implementing
Sarbanes Oxley practices and rightsizing operations.
