Garmin Ltd. (GRMN), through its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, markets and sells navigation, communication and information devices and applications, which are enabled by GPS technology. GRMN has four business segments: outdoor/fitness, marine, automotive/mobile and aviation. The Company's non-aviation products are sold through independent dealers and distributors; its aviation products are sold through aviation distributors worldwide. GRMN has a strategic alliance with Taiwan-based ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (Taiwan OTC:23571) to design, manufacture and distribute co-branded location-centric mobile phones.

In the report, the analyst notes:

"During the three months ended June 27, 2009, GRMN made efforts within its automotive/mobile segment to take advantage of ongoing demand for portable navigation devices. The Company introduced its 1200, 1300 and 1400 nuvi(R)series, which offer affordable navigation solutions with pedestrian capabilities, and a navigation product designed specifically for the trucking market.

"The Company's outdoor/fitness segment has been the most resilient segment in the economic downturn. However, after nine consecutive quarters of revenue growth in the segment, revenue declined by 9% in the three months ended June 27, 2009. Despite this decline, the Company believes that the segment has long-term growth potential and launched several new products in the period. The Company introduced products within its Oregon touch screen series that integrated a 3.2 mega pixel auto-focus camera and a three-axis compass. The Company also began deliveries of the Foretrex 301 and 401, a new line of wearable navigators incorporating a high sensitivity GPS chipset. In addition, GRMN launched its Dakota, which offers a navigation device with touch-screen functionality at a mid-range price point."
