Cober Printing Improves Efficiency With Descartes Transportation Management Solution

CHICAGO, Sept. 21, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CSCMP Annual Conference -- Descartes Systems Group (TSX:DSG) (Nasdaq:DSGX), a global on-demand software-as-a-service (SaaS) logistics solutions provider, announced that Cober Printing Limited, a full-service North American printing organization, has deployed Descartes' Transportation Management solution, specifically the Pick, Pack and Ship application, to streamline its shipment process and improve data quality of its print orders.

Descartes' Pick, Pack and Ship application allows Cober to gain control of, and get visibility into, its printing orders and shipments. Cober can then track these orders in real-time using wireless scanners at multiple locations, ensure data quality of shipment information prior to shipment processing and speed up the shipping process for bulk shipments of the same item to many locations.

Part of Descartes' Transportation Management, the Pick, Pack and Ship application allows organizations, like Cober, to spend less money to service customers more effectively by ensuring the right orders are delivered on time and on budget. In the solution, pick, pack and ship processes are automated, making it easier to sort orders by customer, carrier, weight, destination, number of line items and other variables. Also, carton content information is captured, enabling packing slips, bills of lading, shipping manifests and other essential documents to be prepared.

For small parcel deliveries, Descartes Pick, Pack and Ship prints shipping labels that comply with the standards established by leading couriers so that they can be rapidly scanned and sorted. Descartes also provides real-time visibility into shipment status, automatically updates estimated times of arrival and sends e-mail alerts to customers.

"Descartes got us up and running in a matter of weeks, enabling us to save costs and streamline our operations immediately," said Peter Cober, President at Cober Printing. "Descartes' Pick, Pack and Ship application is a reliable solution that enables us to improve our service delivery and lets us focus on managing our core business."

"The shipment process starts on the shop floor and Descartes' Pick, Pack and Ship solution enables customers to streamline projects and operations right from the get-go," said Joe Mallozzi, Vice President of Transportation Management at Descartes. "Our solutions enable organizations, like Cober Printing, to simplify their complex delivery operations, save money and concentrate on their core operations."
