Deeley Harley-Davidson(R) Canada Cuts Resource Costs With Descartes Transportation Management

WATERLOO, Ontario, Dec. 3, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Descartes Systems Group (TSX:DSG) (Nasdaq:DSGX), a federated global logistics network, announced that Deeley Harley-Davidson(R) Canada, the exclusive Canadian distributor for Harley-Davidson(R) and Buell(TM) motorcycles, Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories and Motor clothes(R) apparel, has deployed Descartes' Transportation Management solution to help it reduce resource and customer service costs.

Interfaced to Deeley Harley-Davidson(R) Canada's weighing and cube system, Industrial Express Cube, Descartes' Pick, Pack and Ship application allows the company to combine its carrier software into one workstation and process. Additionally, Deeley can determine accurate shipping costs, automate bulk mailings and query, and track its shipments. Since implementing Descartes' Pick, Pack and Ship, Deeley has reallocated one resource, resulting in improved efficiency and cost savings.

"Descartes' Transportation Management suite automated our mail and Parts and Accessories shipping process, freeing up our resources to focus on other areas of our business," said Stacey Arthur, IT Director at Deeley Harley-Davidson(R) Canada. "The Pick, Pack and Ship application gave us benefits across our shipping department, including mail, transportation and customer service, and the results have translated to hard cost savings and improved customer service."

"Our customers are always looking for ways to improve their operating performance," said Joe Mallozzi, Vice President of Transportation Management at Descartes. "By automating the shipment process, simplifying the audit of carrier invoices and implementing self-service shipment status, not only has Deeley reduced costs, but also improved customer service."
